A Modern Garden Wedding at Butler Lane
Claire & Ross 27/3/21
Venue: Butler Lane, Richmond
Photographer: @sarahgodenziphotography
Claire and Ross tied the knot in the stunning courtyard of Butler Lane before moving into the venue’s chic warehouse space for their reception.
From the beginning, Claire had a clear vision: classic white and green wedding flowers with a personal twist. Together, we considered the earthy terracotta paving, the lush ivy-covered wall, and the sleek, modern reception room. The result was an elegant garden-inspired aesthetic - timeless, yet full of thoughtful details.
A Unique Spin on the Classic White & Green
To bring Claire’s vision to life, we blended seed pods, dried grasses, soft grey gum foliage, and crisp white blooms, arranging them in a relaxed yet elevated style. The grey gum foliage paired beautifully with the bridesmaids’ navy satin dresses and the groomsmen’s dark blue suits, while also serving as a subtle nod to Australian native plants, a meaningful touch with many overseas guests attending.
Setting the Scene
For the ceremony, rustic terracotta pots brimming with flowers and foliage lined the aisle, echoing the bridal party arrangements without distracting from them or the beautiful ivy backdrop. This playful yet refined look carried seamlessly into the reception, where long wooden tables were dressed with trails of grey gum foliage, delicate white flowers, and an abundance of candlelight.
The overall effect was warm, welcoming, and romantic, a perfect reflection of Claire and Ross’s day.
